General water rules

1.
 
Ignorance of these rules cannot be used as an excuse for breaking them and are all subject to disciplinary action.
2.
 
Paid up full or junior members ONLY allowed to fish, and juvenile members only when accompanied by full or associate
   
(non fishing) members at all times.
3.  
Maximum stay on all club waters is 48 hrs unless otherwise stated in an individual water rule.
   
At the end of this period members are required to leave the venue for a minimum period of 24 hrs.
4.  
Any member who is asked to cease fishing, or leave the water, by a bailiff or landowner must do so immediately.
5.  
Membership cards must be carried at all times. Failure to produce the same to a bailiff or any other member of the club
   
when requested will render that person liable to be asked to leave the water.
6.  
Running, shouting and the use of bad language likely to cause offence to members, the general public and or landowners
 
and any other action deemed likely to bring the club into disreprute is strictly forbidden.
7a.
 
No unauthorised use of any boat this includes bait boats.
7b.
 
Absolutely no alterations to swims, bank sides and water levels.
7c.
 
No damage to hedges and trees.
7d.
 
No bonfires.
7e.
 
No introduction of baits or markers by wading, swimming or boats of any description is allowed on all club waters.
8.
 
No swim is to be occupied by either an angler or their tackle for a period longer than 60 minutes, unfished.
9.
 
NO RODS TO BE LEFT BAITED IN OR OUT OF THE WATER, IF YOU LEAVE YOUR SWIM FOR ANY REASON.
10.
 
Members are responsible for all litter found in their swim. All litter found in a swim on arrival must be cleared before
 
starting to fish and all litter must be taken away from the venue.
11.
 
No tins, cans or glass containers including bait, food or drink are permitted on any club water.
12.
 
Most club waters will have a closed season, when no fishing (other than that specifically authorised for Fishery Management
 
purposes) shall take place. This shall run from midnight 14th March to midnight 15th June, unless alternatively and specifically
 
stated in an individual water rule. Also there will be an appropriate closed season for migratory and non-migratory trout.
13.
 
No fishing other than from defined swim stations. No fishing outside the boundaries shown on water maps.
14.
 
No fishing 2 hours before matches. Please check match fixtures before a visit to a water.
15.
 
Audio visual equipment may be used, only if earphones or headphones are used.
 

Fish Welfare and Tackle

1.
 
No fish, course or game, to be taken away, and all fish to be returned safely to all waters unless alternatively and
 
specifically stated in the individual water rules.
2.
 
No fish over 6lbs to be retained by any method on all club waters. The retention of carp, pike and barbel is permitted for a
 
maximum of 20 miutes, provided they are retained in adequately sized purpose built sacks in the case of carp and pike,
 
and adequately sized and meshed keep nets in the case of barbel, which should be retained facing upstream.

No fish to be allowed to come into contact with the ground. Where the size of the fish is expected to be large,
 
a suitable unhooking mat of a minimum size of 18" x 30" with padding must be used at all waters.
4.
 
Pike fishing is to be carried out only when the following rules are obeyed :-
4a.
 
Treble hooks when used, must be semi barbless.
4b.
 
Minimum breaking strain of line must be 15lbs.
4c.
 
A wire trace of 18" must be used.
4d.
 
No live baiting.
4e.
 
When dead baiting, only sea fish may be used.
4f.
 
Disgorgers and/or artery forceps must be carried and used when required.
4h.
 
No types of gag, gaffs or tailers to be used.
4i.
 
No junior or juvenile member is allowed to fish for pike, unless accompanied and supervised by an experienced adult.
4j.
 
Unhooking mats must be used at all times.
5a.
 
Unhooking mats must be used at all times.
5b.
 
No nut baits on any water.
5c.
 
No pre-baiting on any water and do not discard any excess baits in and around any waters.
5d.
 
All particle seed baits must have been soaked and boiled before use.
5e.
 
The use of gaffs and tailers is strictly prohibited
5f.
 
No live baiting.
5g.
 
All hooks, sized 12 and smaller, must be microbarb or barbless.
5h.
 
The use of bent shank hooks is banned on all club waters.
6.
 
No more than two rods to be used, per angler, except where otherwise specified in individual water rules.
 
Even then, more than one rod may only be used when it does not encroach on water required by another angler.
7.
 
Braided mainline is banned on all club waters. This does not affect your use of braid for terminal tackle.
8.
 
No fixed rigs or feeders (all leads, feeders and rigs must be free running).
9.
 
Landing nets of an appropriate size must be set up for each individual angler, at least one net, minimum size of 24"
    the shortest side for triangular or 20" diameter for pan nets must be used. On waters where fish in excess on 10lbs may be
    expected, a minimum of 36" length arms for triangular or 32" diameter for circular nets must be used.
    Minimum keep net size for circular nets 18" diameter, or rectangular nets 18" x 14", and must be a minimum of 8 feet long.
    All net material must be of the soft knotless material, with a mesh size no larger than minnow mesh.
    No metal ringed keep nets to be used.
10.   No Tilley lamps at any time. Torches must not be shone outside swim station area, e.g. on or across the water,
    but may be used for safety reasons when leaving swim stations.
11.   No angler's shelter shall be enclosed more than which allows direct unhindered access to the rod(s) in use without any
    adjustment to the shelter or surrounding canopies being necessary.
     
   
The committee reserve the right to alter the foregoing rules as they may see fit at any time.
