Lakeside Parking & Access Update 11/03/15

 Wednesday 11 March 2015 - 17:25:10 | Dave

We have an update for the access and parking at Lakeside 1000 effective immediately. You may note some of these changes took effect last season but are still listed for clarification:

•There is no longer access to the lake from the West end over the 2 x bridges for vehicles - foot access is allowed only. If on foot you must park in car park 2.

•For Vehicle access anglers must go through car park F only – this is the first car park on the left as you come into the Lakeside complex – Turn left at the shops and left again by the barriers. No vans larger than a Citroen Berlingo / Transit Connect / Peugeot Partner.

•On arrival at barrier press button and give Security your membership number and full name to gain access, once through the barrier turn right drive down to the corner of the car park towards the lake and enter track – you should see a dropped kerb which takes you onto the footpath / track. Drive round lake the opposite way, you will pass the pump station before arriving at peg 1 (please note, you will initially be on cycle path - speed limit 5mph.

•Parking arrangement as per Handbook states Monday Friday 0730-1700 (drop off Tackle at swim) and then park in designated PDAS car parks, Monday – Friday after 1700 park by pegs, Saturday and Sunday (including bank holidays) parking allowed as normal. However if the Ground/grass become soaked and boggy then parking on grass will be ceased and only designated car parks to be used. You must ensure NO damage is done to the grass or verges.

•Security will keep record of attending anglers entering. When leaving the water the way out barrier automatically opens.

•The landlord may refuse access by vehicle if the conditions of the access route and associated parking areas are deemed unsuitable for motor vehicles by site management. Please note, these rules are implemented by the land owner and PDAS have no control over these implemented rules.

Although this is not ideal for the larger van drivers, please take into consideration that this is the only water where we are allowed access this close to our swims. Please remember this is out of the control of the club and this has not only affected the general membership but also members of the committee who drive larger vans.

PDAS Charity Events 2015/16

 Monday 09 February 2015 - 07:38:47 | Dave

We were given the task of choosing between 4 very worthy causes and it wasn't easy this year.

The causes were Jacks 1st steps fund, Hants & IOW Helimed (Mike Bonathon), British Heart Foundation (local girl appeal) and Queen Alexandra Children's Ward.

After a long debate it was decided to split the money raised at the Charity match and the 3 memorial matches between QA Children's ward and The British Heart Foundation.

It was a difficult decision but considering that the charity match is a relatively new thing for the Club,(3 years) it is rewarding for all who take part, and great to see others benefit from the work and dedication of those who organise and support these events.

More details to follow soon.....
