The River Open Season is nearly upon us!

 Monday 15 June 2015 - 08:21:38 | Dave

Everything is ready on the Hamble for the start of the season tomorrow. The fish are very active and should provide some good sport. The recent EA survey shows we have some superb fish in the river and they've not seen a bait for 3 months!

Some tips for the new season:

- Travel light and don't be afraid to move. There is a lot of water to cover and swims have been cleared right down to the railway viaduct so take some time to explore the river.
- A stealthy approach is necessary when the water is clear; use the natural cover and don't cast a shadow on the water.
- Maggots work well but don't be afraid to step up to bread, sweetcorn or worms. We have some big chub in the river now.
- Long grass means wellies or waders to avoid getting wet in mornings and evenings
