Fly Fishing

 Friday 18 March 2016 - 16:10:21 | Dave

Fly fishing for Brown Trout on the rivers Hamble and Wallington starts from the 3rd April this year (and not 1st April as in the handbook). Last year saw a lot of trout caught especially during the Mayfly hatch but both rivers respond well to dry-fly and nymph throughout the season. Note that all water and club rules still apply. In particular:

• Please de-barb flies to comply with the barbless rules
• All fish must be returned
• Fly-fishing is the only permitted method until June 16th
• Until June 16th no fishing for coarse fish is permitted

Please report all catches on the forum. A specific section for game fishing is available to exchange tips and get help especially if fly-fishing for the first time.
