I am proud to announce that this years 24hr Charity Match at Lakeside was a great success with 19 competitors taking place, and all but two were successful in catching. The weather was very kind to us all weekend and many laughs were enjoyed by all.
We managed to raise around £700 towards this years chosen charity, which is the children’s Ward at QA Hospital. We are hopeful that in addition to this amount, the money raised from the 2 memorial matches will take this amount to around £1500.
My thanks go to those individuals who not only gave up their time but also their money to take part in such a great event. I am fortunate to have a nucleus of people who have supported this event for the last four years, and this year we were joined by our first female Paula and Junior member William. Among the rest were some newcomers, and it was great to see them and hope they enjoyed the occasion.
My eternal thanks go to the many people and business’s who were very generous with some fantastic raffle prizes ranging from helicopter ride for 2, PDAS membership, tackle voucher, bedchair, bait, bottles of spirit, rods, reels and umbrellas. Without their generosity, this event would never be such a success, and their constant support each year has to be both admired and applauded.
If anyone wants to join in the fun next year, please look out for the advert in the handbook, and be part of the fantastic bunch of people who help others in their time of need.

Please support this worthy cause!
We have managed to secure 4 exchange books for Christchurch Angling Club for members to use. This Club offers some of the best river fishing in the south with some awesome stretches of the River Avon and Stour, as well as some fantastic lakes.
The books will be split as always between Mannings and Paul Champion.
Please please read the rules before attending these clubs waters and don't jeopardise this arrangement with poor behaviour.
This event is held every year with the sole aim of raising money for local charities, and to date has raised a fair amount of cash for some very worthy causes. The aim this year is to raise money for the children’s ward at The Queen Alexander Hospital. Unfortunately the event this year was looking threatened by the problems that we had been having at Lakeside; however the news from Lakeside is looking good so this event is likely to go ahead as planned. The 24 Hour is listed as a Carp Match, however most who fish this event do so with the aim of raising money and having a good social. There is no requirement to stay the 24hrs and you may come and go at your leisure within the 24hr period. We also set up a BBQ area on the lake so you can bring down some burgers etc and have a bit of food and a chat before fishing. The plan for the day is as follows -
BBQ 12 – 3
Fish 3pm 15th Aug to 3pm 16th Aug
Entry Fee for the 24hr is £10.00 (all goes to charity).
For more info please contact me or ask any questions on the forum. I hope to see you there!
